Translators

As part of its selection and team-building strategy, Meditradox has selected and trained several groups of translators, consisting in beginners, students at the University of Medicine, Information Technology, translators having a few years of experience and a diploma in Medicine and IT and translators having a PhD in the above-mentioned fields or being teachers, university-assistants and so on.

The selection process began with a test-translation from a specific field (medical or IT), the assessment of the translation according to Meditradox's set of evaluation, including the criteria of the correct and consistent terminology, clear-cut rendering of the original in the target-language, correct use of grammar and spelling, readability and appropriate style, etc.

Upon the evaluation process a member of the proofreading team had an individual discussion with all successful candidates, clarifying the strongest suits of each translator and highlighting the problematic parts of the test-translation.

We consider that passing the test is a necessary, but not sufficient condition of becoming a member of our team. Therefore Meditradox organizes at its headquarter on regular basis and in different groups training courses for those who had passed the translation test. The course is divided into several parts: Introduction to the theory of translation, Introduction to linguistics, Multicultural environment and the problems of bilingualism, Comparative syntax (with special emphasis on the Hungarian syntax) and finally Translation Seminars and CAT-tool seminars.
